Carly Rae Jepsen is embracing a new chapter.
On Thursday, the Grammy-nominated pop favorite released “After All,” the latest preview of her upcoming double album Day and Night. The shimmering new track explores love through a deeply personal lens, with Jepsen drawing inspiration from reflections on motherhood, identity and the ways life’s biggest changes reshape perspective.
Penned alongside longtime collaborators Kyle Shearer and Nate Cyphert, “After All” continues the warm, introspective direction Jepsen introduced with the album’s lead single, “On Wires.” Shearer also produced the track.

A Celebration of Love and Life’s Next Chapter
While Jepsen has long been known for crafting irresistible pop anthems, “After All” leans into a quieter emotional space. The song was written as she considered how becoming a parent can influence relationships, personal priorities and the way people experience the world around them.
That reflective spirit extends into the song’s official music video.
Directed by Aerin Moreno, whose previous work includes videos for Tate McRae and KATSEYE, the visual finds Jepsen basking in the soft morning light following what appears to have been a lively dinner party. As she moves through the room surrounded by traces of the evening before, home-video-style footage of celebrations spanning different decades flashes across the screen, creating a nostalgic backdrop that mirrors the song’s themes of connection and shared memories.
Day and Night Arrives This September
“After All” marks the latest glimpse into Day and Night, Jepsen’s forthcoming 24-track double album set for release on Sept. 18 through Interscope Records.

Designed as two interconnected halves, Day and Night explores the blurred space between morning and evening. The project captures moments where late nights melt into sunrise and daylight slips back into darkness, creating what Jepsen describes as a dreamlike sense of time suspended between worlds.
“After All” belongs to the album’s “day” portion, offering a softer counterbalance to the energy teased elsewhere on the record.
Jepsen will celebrate the album’s arrival with a headlining performance at New York City’s All Things Go Festival on Sept. 27. The festival appearance also marks her first live performance of 2026.
“On Wires” Set the Stage
The album rollout began with “On Wires,” which earned praise from critics following its release.
Consequence called the track “playful and powerful,” adding, “The organic warmth makes it a fitting preview of the album’s Day half.”
Clash also praised the single, writing that it is “a moment of subtle, understated bravado…A song that revels in tension and release, the vocal can be both coy and carnal, flirtatious and positively feral.”

More than a decade after “Call Me Maybe” became a worldwide phenomenon, Jepsen continues to chart her own course.

Now, with Day and Night, Jepsen appears ready to open another chapter.
