Stardew Valley Officially Returns July 27

Movies

Stardew Valley fans are waiting with bated breath for the official announcement of the 1.7 update, which will introduce brand-new content and further expand Pelican Town with two new marriage candidates: Clint and Sandy. Creator Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone has also teased additional social interactions, new events, and other surprises while keeping much of the update intentionally under wraps ahead of launch.

At the same time, work continues on the highly anticipated Haunted Chocolatier, Barone’s next life-sim RPG, which will feature a larger world, more action-focused combat with weapons and shields, chocolate crafting, shop management, romance options, and an entirely new cast of characters, as well as “darker” themes than Stardew.

Although neither project has a release date yet, Barone recently confirmed that development remains active, with Stardew Valley and Haunted Chocolatier progressing in parallel. And if you’re growing impatient waiting for update 1.7, Stardew Valley is officially making an epic return on July 27 with a brand-new release and a relatively unexpected crossover (via X).

According to a brand-new post from MTG Secret Lair, Stardew Valley is getting its own line of MTG cards in the limited-edition collectible Secret Lair line on July 27. The “Moonlight Jellies” Superdrop is a massive Stardew Valley-themed Secret Lair rollout that will likely sell out almost instantaneously, as most Secret Lair drops do, but fans will have a shot at claiming their own at the end of the month.

The “Moonlight Jellies” collection features original Stardew artwork and characters, including cards like the Pierre’s Truce Instant, The Welcoming Committee Legendary, Lands such as Pelican Town and the Community Center, and more. You can take a look at the teaser here:

For the uninitiated, Magic: The Gathering Secret Lair is a premium line of limited-edition collectible card drops sold directly by Wizards of the Coast. Rather than introducing entirely new sets, Secret Lair typically features alternate artwork, unique card treatments, artist spotlights, and crossover collaborations with popular franchises, while reprinting existing, tournament-legal Magic cards.

Since launching in 2019, the line has partnered with brands including Marvel, SpongeBob SquarePants, Sonic the Hedgehog, Street Fighter, Dungeons & Dragons, and even My Little Pony. Originally offered as print-to-demand products, Secret Lair releases now use limited print runs, making many drops highly sought after by both collectors and players.

The Stardew Valley Secret Lair marks the farming sim’s first official crossover with Magic: The Gathering, bringing Pelican Town and its iconic characters into the world’s most popular trading card game. While Wizards has only announced a single Stardew Valley Superdrop so far, the franchise’s extensive cast and enduring popularity leave the door open for additional collaborations after the crossover inevitably proves successful.
