Dear Destiny Officially Revealed By Square Enix

Although it’s been a few years since Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth first launched on PS5, Square Enix isn’t quite done with it yet. As all eyes turn toward the trilogy’s finale FF7 Revelation next year, there’s at least one more official release in the pipeline, and it sounds perfect for all those Tifa and Aerith fans out there. Called Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth: Dear Destiny, this will be a prequel to the main game that focuses on the two beloved characters.

Described as “The life stories of Aerith Gansborough and Tifa Lockheart leading up to the main narrative” of FF7, the book serves as both a prelude to the game but a sequel to the novel, Traces of Two Pasts. The cover art and the announcement were shared on the official Square Enix Manga & Books account on X. You can view the full post below.

For anyone who’s still catching up on the story for FF7 Rebirth, which only came to Switch 2 and Xbox in June, there’s no need to worry. Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth: Dear Destiny doesn’t release until January 28, 2027, so you’ve still got around 6 months left to play the game before diving into the new novel. The full official summary of the book, which is found over on the official Square Enix website, is here:

Tifa struggles with painful memories of Nibelheim while trying to both make a living at Seventh Heaven and evade the Turks’ investigation into Avalanche. Aerith finds a place for herself selling flowers in Midgar, all the while wondering and worrying about the absence of someone very dear to her. And an angel takes flight from a run-down church, leading to a reunion in the Sector 7 slums that will set the wheels of destiny in motion.

This volume also includes a bonus short story set during Cloud’s time as a Shinra trooper.

The book is priced at $26.99 for the hardcover edition and $14.99 for a digital copy. There’s no page total provided, but Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth: Dear Destiny is available for preorder now both on the official store and major retailers like Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Books-A-Million.

Strangely enough, Dear Destiny isn’t the only official FF7 release coming in January 2027. A board game, called Ascend the Shinra Tower, is also planned for that same month. Essentially, it looks like Square Enix is planning a lot ahead of Final Fantasy 7 Revelation‘s Spring 2027 release window, so if you’re fan of FF7, then it looks like 2027 is going to be your year.

For the millions of fans who adore Aerith and Tifa, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth: Dear Destiny sounds pretty fantastic. The bonus story involving Cloud sounds pretty interesting as well. We expect to hear more details regarding the upcoming Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth novel ahead of its official release in January.
