The Pokémon Trading Card Game is arguably more popular than ever. That can be a problem, particularly where scalping is involved, but The Pokémon Company has made several changes to ensure Pokémon cards wind up in the hands of actual fans. At the same time, the Pokémon TCG isn’t slowing down at all, with the Delta Reign expansion arriving in November and Fighting Fists revealed as the first set for 2027.
At the same time, the Pokémon TCG continues releasing new merchandise like binders, card sleeves, and deck boxes. None of that is necessary to playing the card game, but it certainly helps with storage and organization, and there are a lot of cool designs out there. There’s also at least one specialty set on the way, a Valentine’s Day collection for 2027, which will likely be made up of reprints. Now, the Pokémon TCG has released another item, which fans of Pikachu will absolutely adore.
Over on the official Pokémon Center, there are a number of new releases related to the Pokémon Trading Card Game. One of these is the “Pokémon TCG Deck Buddies: Pikachu Deck Box,” which is back in stock and priced at $19.99. The box is shaped like a real Pikachu, and includes extensions for the ears and tails. Pikachu’s smiling face covers the top portion, which can be opened to store all your favorite Pokémon TCG cards. Pikachu’s arms and legs are on the deck box itself. You can check out the full image above to get a better look at the latest release.
Part of the Pokémon TCG‘s Deck Buddies collection, this Pikachu deck box is made of silicone (not cardboard) and has a magnet to keep contents more secure. In other words, it’s not your run-of-the-mill cardboard deck box. This should keep your cards well-protected in addition to being absolutely adorable. This is a Pokémon Center original, so you’ll need to purchase it from that online storefront if you want to snag this “Pokémon TCG Deck Buddies: Pikachu Deck Box” before it sells out (again).
Pikachu has been an integral part of the Pokémon franchise for 30 years, so it’s nice to see products like this one continuing to release. The adorable Electric-type replaced Clefairy as a mascot extremely early in the franchise’s history, and Pokémon never looked back. Pikachu’s popularity was further solidified thanks to being Ash’s sidekick in the popular anime, and it has gone on to star in its own video games like Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Detective Pikachu. It famously was also on the cover of Pokémon Yellow, where Pikachu would follow you around like Ash in the anime.
Thanks to the movie adaptation of Detective Pikachu, Pokémon‘s mascot got even more time to shine. And now that the franchise is celebrating its 30th anniversary, there are no signs that Pikachu’s popularity is waning. This “Pokémon TCG Deck Buddies: Pikachu Deck Box” from Pokémon Center is likely a must-have for Pikachu fans, and it would honestly make a pretty nice flex the next time you show up to a Pokémon Trading Card Game tournament.
