Grand Theft Auto 6 is forging its own path with a new cast of characters, but Rockstar has revealed one familiar face that will be returning. Set in the fictional Florida analogue of Leonida, it stands to reason that most characters from other settings like Los Santos won’t be returning, and decades have passed in-universe since the series last visited Vice City.
Even so, the wealth of characters that GTA has employed so far means that a few could fit seamlessly into the new story. In the torrent of new material from GTA 6‘s Netflix showcase this week, a previously minor character appears to have done just that.
As highlighted by the GTA Wiki X account, the new GTA 6 footage officially showed off a character named Valentina who appears to be returning from Grand Theft Auto Online. In the Netflix special, Valentina hires Jason and Lucia as security for Andrés de León, setting up the chain of events that snowballs into a shootout at a party at the end of the footage.
By all appearances, this is the same Valentina who showed up last year in GTA Online‘s Money Fronts update. When the player character pulls up to embark on Mr. Faber’s private jet, Valentina is seen disembarking the plane. She says the following on the phone:
“Ciao! I’m only here for 24 hours. If they’re serious about this, they’ll show me the property. How many buyers can they have in a state that pays 80% tax?”
Now that Valentina has been revealed for GTA 6, her brief appearance in GTA Online seems like it was an intentional Easter egg teasing a GTA 6 character, especially since it establishes that she’s merely visiting Los Santos in only three lines of dialogue.
While Valentina’s outfit and hairstyle aren’t exactly the same in both games, her sense of fashion seems consistent. More telling is the identical placement of her freckles, which makes it hard to deny that it’s the same character in both contexts.
With that established, I wouldn’t be surprised to see GTA aficionados start scouring recent GTA Online updates for other potential teasers of GTA 6 characters or plot points. Although Rockstar has largely been secretive about GTA 6 details up until this point, the game has been in development for many years, giving the studio plenty of time to start laying some groundwork.
Valentina’s return isn’t necessarily a treat for fans in the way that a major GTA 5 character would be, but it’s still a notable revelation that offiically connects Grand Theft Auto 6 with GTA Online in a way that never happened before.
