Chelsea Handler uses homophobic jokes to roast “racist” MAGA comedian Tony Hinchcliffe

Comedienne Chelsea Handler made numerous homophobic jokes to grill MAGA comedian Tony Hinchcliffe, who gained infamy at an October 2024 rally for Donald Trump by calling Puerto Rico a “floating island of garbage.” Both Handler and Hinchcliffe attended the Sunday, May 10 Netflix roast of Kevin Hart (a comedian with his own history of homophobic jokes).

“Tony Hinchcliffe is here,” Handler’s set began. “Tony is what happens when women don’t have safe access to abortion care.” She later said, “Tony is a real guy’s guy, or what’s more commonly known as a bottom.”

“Tony, you have the face of a school shooter and the personality of someone who gets shot first. Look at you, you look good! You’ve got like a little Hollywood glow-up. I didn’t know veneers came in deli mustard yellow. But it actually looks a little bit better in person,” she continued, adding, “You must be using Crest White Supremacist strips,” an allusion to the toothpaste brand’s teeth whitening at-home product.

“Tony and Shane, this must be so exciting for you guys,” she said. “Usually on Sunday nights, you just burn a cross on someone’s lawn. And tonight you get to roast a whole Black guy.”

She quickly added, “Tony, quick question: If you’re here tonight, who’s keeping [conservative anti-trans podcaster] Joe Rogan’s balls warm in their mouth?”

At another point, comedian Pete Davidson directed a homophobic joke at Hinchcliffe, saying, “Tony reminds me of [murdered MAGA influencer] Charlie Kirk, and that’s he’s definitely been on camera letting a guy unload in his throat.”

The quip referred to Kirk’s September 10, 2025 death, which occurred on camera after a sniper shot a single fatal bullet into Kirk’s throat.

Davidson later said, “Tony, nothing you say tonight will hurt my feelings. I was in a beef with Kanye, so I’ve taken shots from better gay Nazis.” Davidson’s joke was a reference to the famous rapper’s antisemitism and past same-sex incestual encounters.

During Hinchcliffe’s October 2024 routine at the Trump rally, he said that Black people carve watermelons for Halloween, suggested Jews don’t like spending money, and that Latinos “love making babies” and do not “pull out.”

After receiving backlash for his comments, Hinchcliffe said his critics “have no sense of humor,” but the Trump campaign said his comments about Puerto Rico “[do] not reflect the views of President Trump or the campaign.”

Chandler, who has generally been an outspoken ally for the entire LGBTQ+ community (including trans kids), has been criticized in the past for making homophobic jokes. In recent years, she has mostly directed such jokes against conservative targets.
