Jax Taylor defends flight turnaround because he ‘wouldn’t sit in coach’: ‘I wanted to sleep’

Reality TV

Jax Taylor doubled down on making his plane turn around when his first class seat malfunctioned because he didn’t want to sit in coach.

The “Vanderpump Rules” alum was flying in first class on a six-hour flight from New York City to Los Angeles when his seat wouldn’t go upright after he reclined it to take a nap while the rest of the plane boarded.

“The seat didn’t go back up, so what am I supposed to do? It’s a regulation the seat has to be in upright position, so they’re like, ‘You can sit back in coach or we have to turn the flight around.’ Well, I’m like, ‘I have to go home and take care of my child all day you have to turn the flight back then,’” he said on “Watch What Happens Live” Thursday.

Host Andy Cohen initially seemed stunned and asked Taylor why he “wouldn’t go back to sit in coach.”

“Because I wanted to sleep,” Taylor continued. “I was sitting in first class. There was nothing else available! You gonna put me in the middle seat?”

Taylor, 44, also claimed that the plane had just left the gate and was only “5 feet” away from it when he gave the turnaround directions.

“It’s a long flight, I gotta get up, I gotta take my kid to school, I wanna sleep,” he said, referring to his and wife Brittany Cartwright’s 2-year-old son, Cruz.

The “House of Villains” star also confirmed that he was the only passenger who had to physically get off the flight because only his seat had malfunctioned while the rest of the travelers stayed on the plane and eventually flew to their destination.

Taylor further clarified that he was the only passenger who got out of the plane and switched flights.

“I got on another flight, very simple, you can’t take off with a reclined seat,” he concluded.

Page Six broke the news that Taylor was onboard a JetBlue flight from JFK to LAX when his faulty seat resulted in the plane turning around on the runway earlier this month.

“The plane did not come back [to the gate] due to any uproar,” his rep told us last week.

“His seat was in the bed position in first class, and the plane is unable to take off if it is not upright. He was not able to sit in that seat. It was not working. It was not his fault that the seat wouldn’t move from the bed position.”

The Bravolebrity called the whole ordeal “very simple.”

Despite the whole ordeal not directly being Taylor’s fault, a source on the flight told us that fellow passengers were both irritated and confused about what was happening.

“It made the plane two-and-a-half hours late because they were already on the runway, and it was raining,” they told us.

“People were upset, but not like rioting, just frustrated and gossiping when we returned and parked at the gate.”
