Sutton Stracke: It was ‘hurtful’ when fans didn’t get my ‘RHOBH’ outfits

Reality TV

Sutton Stracke is proud of her unique sense of style, even if Bravo fans have yet to catch up.

“At first, it was hurtful when people didn’t seem to understand my fashion choices. But now, I don’t pay any mind to comments and whatnot,” the “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star told Page Six Style at her “Cashmere & Caviar” party on Tuesday in Los Angeles.

“I love couture — and couture is all about slow fashion and meticulous detail,” added the reality TV personality, who is about to enter her second season as a full-time “Housewife.”

“It doesn’t translate to a lot of people. People don’t understand it all the time because it’s a little bit different — but I’m a little bit different.”

The Bravolebrity, 50, said she can’t help but laugh when social media trolls tell her to “fire [her] stylist” — because she doesn’t employ one.

“I am my stylist. I style myself and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Only because if I don’t love it, then I’m not going to feel comfortable. I don’t like people telling me what to wear — or what to do in general — because I’m an earth sign,” the Virgo explained. “So I’m grounded and I don’t need anybody to do that for me.”

Stracke, a committed fashion connoisseur known to attend the Met Gala or jet off to Europe for extensive shopping trips, said her background in the arts has left an indelible mark on her sartorial taste.

“I’m an artist. I’ve always been an artist. I was a dancer, always ripping up my tights and cutting my leotards. I was also a choreographer. Now I’m just choreographing my own life and fashion is a big part of my choreography,” she said. “I want people to know that it’s OK to be quirky and help them understand that you can express yourself however you want to.”

Though Stracke admits to having a “fetish” for Dolce & Gabbana tiaras and favors high-end labels for her onscreen looks, she isn’t completely averse to casual attire.

The Georgia native, who recently attended the Stagecoach country music festival in a sundress and cowboy boots, just launched a line of comfy cashmere separates that are sold at her SUTTON boutique in West Hollywood and online.

“It’s been a huge labor of love,” she said of creating the collection that includes styles for both women and men.

“When I opened the store, I wanted to do cashmere immediately. Then we got into the pandemic, so things just got all mixed up and delayed,” she elaborated. “I had no idea just how hard this was going to be, but I’m always up for a challenge. Now that it’s finally here, I’m so excited and couldn’t be more proud of the line.”

Made with fine Italian yarns and produced locally by a small team in LA, the “decadently soft” T-shirts, sweaters, joggers and dresses — which range in price from $195 to $1,100 — are made to last, Stracke said.

“The idea of sustainability and slow fashion, that’s very important to me. Adding to your closet instead of buying things and then tossing them out the next year, it’s a really bad habit that we have as a society,” she said, noting that her own cashmere pieces will “co-exist beautifully” with the beloved couture creations that fill her wardrobe.

“I’m trying to teach that to my own children,” added the mom of three, who shares daughter Porter and sons Philip and James with ex-husband Christian Stracke. “Things might cost more, but they last longer.”

Guests at Stracke’s fashion fête enjoyed caviar by The Caviar Company, Perrier-Jouët champagne and sweet treats by Lady M. Among the crowd were “RHOBH” cast members Garcelle Beauvais and Crystal Kung Minkoff, who were visibly impressed by their friend’s new designs.

“It feels great to have their support,” Stracke gushed over her pals. “We three are a good team.”

“The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” Season 12 premieres Wednesday, May 11, at 8 p.m. ET on Bravo.
