Sonic Collection Possibly Leaked By Same Source As Sonic Colors Remaster

Another Sonic leak has arisen, coming from the same source as the recent Sonic Colors leak, and it opens the possibility of some kind of Sonic collection. This leak comes just over a month after the previous leak listing a Sonic Colors remaster.

Sonic the Hedgehog has had it rough over the last few years. This isn’t the first time this has been said about the blue blur, but after 2017 saw the release of Sonic Forces, it’s been a rough road of recovery. While Sonic Forces wasn’t as infamous as Sonic 06, it wasn’t the most well received game in the series, and it did little to redeem the disastrous launch of Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric on the Wii U. 2017 did see the release of Sonic Mania, though, and that title was beloved by fans for the amount of love and dedication put into it as a recreation of 2D classic Sonic.

In April, European retailer Sogamely listed what was dubbed Sonic Colors Ultimate Switch, PS4, and Xbox One. Now a new listing has emerged on the same site that lists simply titled “Sonic Collection EU Version.” As of yet, only a PS4 version is listed. This listing was spotted by Reddit user ezidro3. There aren’t any other details shown in the listing as to what this collection could entail.

But there is already a theory concerning what this collection might include. At the start of February, leaker Zippo posted information on what he claims Sonic’s 30th anniversary will include. Among this information is the claim that Sonic 1 & 2 will get Retro Engine remakes as part of the festivities. He also supported the Sonic Colors listing when that was revealed, claiming it was “one of the remasters I heard about.”

Of course, like all rumors and leaks, this should be taken with a grain of salt. This type of collection could mean anything, and besides the supposed info from Zippo, there’s no other information that can be inferred about what it is. It could be a 2D Sonic collection, or it could be 3D Sonic. But with E3 just around the corner, it’s possible that E3 could be when Sega’s full plans for Sonic’s 30th anniversary are fully revealed. Sega would need to do a lot to recover Sonic from the bad reputation of his recent games, but it’s been done before with titles like Sonic Colors and Sonic Generations. If those games could bring Sonic back into the spotlight, then it’s very possible that Sega could once again produce a Sonic game that will be remembered fondly, and even a collection would go some way to restoring his name.
