Interview with Rising Star Alonzo

Celebrity, Fashion, Music, News

If you have seen Alonzo perform at one of the many Hollywood clubs where he is a regular, then you know the POWER of this performer’s presence.  Exuding excellence with every breath, Alonzo is passion personified.  We caught up with him to learn more about his latest single, SAVE ME FROM MYSELF and find out about his latest endeavor to spread his message of hope and love to young people across the US and beyond.

Alonzo, please share with us the message and mission of your latest venture, spending time with young teens in high schools across the US.

Yes! One of the things I am most passionate about is empowering the next generation to be Free of Fear. “Free of Fear” is a movement I started to empower all youth to confront their fears. So often fear holds our youth back from their dreams. I remember so vividly feeling like my dreams were too big. I literally thought I was crazy sometimes to imagine myself on TV having no idea how I was going to get there. I experienced many setbacks and later learned that it was because I was afraid. Today I make it my priority to be living proof inspiring kids not to be afraid.

SAVE ME FROM MYSELF is hands down the most powerful song you have released.  Please share a bit of your journey with us and this music.

Thank you so much. Save Me from Myself is special because out of my entire release of songs I have coming up in 2020, this was the very FIRST song my producer Eric Zayne and I wrote & recorded. This message was the first message I had on my heart and wanted to get out from day 1. I literally needed to save myself from myself just to record the rest of my music. So often we want to point the finger for the hard times we face but in a time when depression and anxiety is at an all-time high, it is so important that we confront ourselves for change. This song is to remind us of OUR power. The power we have inside ourselves.

Your new video looks more like a major motion picture film than an independent music video!  CONGRATULATIONS.  Please share with our readers a few behind the scenes moments!

Thank you so much for noticing this! That was definitely our goal. We wanted this video to be more story based. Director Marshall King and amazing writer Avan Hardwell helped me brainstorm the story so that it could come to life. I knew that I wanted this video to have meaning but I still wanted it to have style without being too deep. I think we did just that. It was definitely one of the hardest things ive ever had to do because I had to play a bad guy and that’s the exact opposite of my natural personality so I found it to be pretty difficult for me to really get into the character. I didn’t want to seem as if I was trying too hard. We shot this video in 1 day and we were on set for 14 hours straight. Sooo thankful for my team and everyone that helped make this happen.

Who have been your biggest musical influences in your career?

My biggest musical influences are all women. My favorites to name a few are Tina Turner, Patti Labelle, Whitney Houston, & Fantasia.

When you are not performing music, what do you like to do when you have free time?

I try to say that I don’t have a personal life because im always working but if I had it my way in my free time I like to go to the spa for a massage. I love going to see a good movie and I love just being alone haha.

2020 will be a huge year! More music! My Debut EP! TOURS! & soooo much more! Stay tuned.
