The Next Generation Officially Returns Next Month

Movies

Star Trek: The Next Generation is coming to a living room near you this fall with a brand-new tabletop game. The long-running, highly influential TV series has been adapted numerous times into all sorts of games, from simple reskins of pre-existing card games to full-on, narrative-driven video games that expand the series’ plot.

Today’s topic of discussion lands somewhere between the two: it’s decidedly Star Trek in theming the whole way through, but it’s not designed to expand the narrative of The Next Generation in a meaningful way. Instead, it’s an outlet for Star Trek superfans to test their knowledge of the series against their friends.

In November 2026, Master Replicas — which specializes in near-identical props and models of science fiction sets, ships, and more — is putting out a Star Trek: The Next Generation Trivia Card Game. Pre-orders are now available via Master Replicas’ website; the game, which costs $24.99, is set to ship sometime next month.

The trivia card game is exactly what it sounds like: it’ll quiz you and your friends on a variety of topics within the Next Generation continuity, allowing you to settle, once and for all, which of you is the biggest Star Trek nerd. Categories include Characters (featuring questions about the Enterprise’s crew and the colorful cast they encounter on their journeys); Ships & Tech (featuring questions about what makes the Enterprise and TNG‘s other futuristic tech tick); and Missions (featuring questions about the plot points of TNG episodes).

To play, you’ll shuffle all the cards together, then take turns asking and answering with your opponents. Answers are printed directly on each card, conveniently coverable with your thumb as you hold each game piece. Once you learn the category of the question, you can choose from three levels of difficulty: Ensign, Commander, or Captain, in order from least to most difficult. Presumably, different difficulty levels will offer you different numbers of points towards your total score.

If TNG isn’t your thing, Master Replicas also offers a Lower Decks edition of this Star Trek Trivia Card Game, which actually ships out a little earlier (by the end of October). No word on an Original Series, Voyager, or any other later series-based sets at the moment, though.

These are just a few of many recent Star Trek game releases, many of which tie in with the franchise’s 40th anniversary. The Original Series premiered on TV in September 1966, leading all sorts of game developers to mark the milestone with re-issues and new titles.

Although each Star Trek series has left its mark on culture, few have proven as enduringly popular as TNG. Its characters, settings, and plots are among the most iconic and recognizable of the series, so it’s no surprise fans would want to test their knowledge with something like this trivia card game. If you’re looking for an excuse to relive your favorite Star Trek: The Next Generation moments, then Master Replicas’ new release is one to watch out for.
