Gal Gadot‘s new Prime Video thriller is already falling on the charts. Gadot is no stranger to action-packed movies, having been a part of Vin Diesel’s Fast & Furious franchise, and played Wonder Woman, DC’s biggest heroine, in multiple movies in the DCEU shared universe. While she will not return as Wonder Woman in James Gunn’s new DC Universe, as the role will be recast with a new actress for a planned Wonder Woman reboot movie — Andor‘s Adria Arjona is rumored to be playing Wonder Woman in the Superman sequel Man of Tomorrow directed by Gunn in 2027— Gadot is keeping busy.
Since she last appeared as Wonder Woman in 2023’s The Flash, the actress starred in the spy thriller Heart of Stone, Disney’s live-action remake of Snow White, the star-studded drama In the Hand of Dante, and now in The Runner, Prime Video’s latest action thriller. The Runner debuted on Prime Video on September 2, with Gadot’s latest film quickly rising to the top of the streaming service’s charts around the world. However, after slightly over a week since the British action thriller became available on Prime Video, The Runner has already taken a massive hit on the streamer’s charts.
Gal Gadot’s The Runner Is Already Running Out Of Steam Globally
At the time of writing, The Runner is the 2nd most-watched movie on Prime Video worldwide, according to FlixPatrol. As such, Gadot’s new action thriller has already been dethroned in the streamer’s global Top 10 Movies chart. Taking over as Prime Video’s most popular movie in the world is the new arrival Drawn Together. The Spanish romance movie debuted on Prime Video on Wednesday, September 9. That was the final day for Gadot’s The Runner at the top of the streamer. With Drawn Together proving itself an instant streaming sensation, the romance starring Elite‘s Ester Expósito had already taken over after a day of availability.
That said, The Runner still ranks higher than many high-profile movies on Prime Video’s global charts. Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s action thriller Fuze, Guy Ritchie’s spy thriller In the Grey starring Henry Cavill and Jake Gyllenhaal, Ryan Gosling’s Project Hail Mary, Jason Statham’s Shelter, the 2026 fantasy epic Masters of the Universe, and more sit below Gadot’s The Runner on Prime Video worldwide. The British thriller is also trending on Prime Video in 51 countries, still being the streamer’s most popular movie in five of those, one of which is the United States. Nationwide, Drawn Together ranks 2nd, but it has climbed six positions already.
Gadot’s Action-Thriller Has Critics & Audiences In Agreement
Gadot’s The Runner might be seeing the novelty of a major release with a well-known star wearing off, leading to the movie falling on streaming charts as the actual reception to it was not positive, and both critics and viewers agreed on that. On Rotten Tomatoes, Prime Video’s The Runner sits at a terrible 10% critics’ score based on 50 reviews. Its audience score is not that much better, as viewers only gave the new action thriller a measly 31%. It remains to be seen if The Runner will find the power to climb back to the top of Prime Video’s global charts despite negative word-of-mouth.
