Universal Pictures has announced a wave of additions to the cast of its forthcoming Snoop Dogg biopic, Variety reports. Among them is SwayvoTwain—aka Michael D’Angelo Archer Jr., the son of late neo-soul legends D’Angelo and Angie Stone—who will play Biggie Smalls. G Perico is also set to portray Big Reecie Cup, and one-time Ellen Showkid rapper” Bentley Green has been cast as RBX. They join an ensemble led by Outer BanksJonathan Daviss as Snoop Doggy Dog himself.

Directed by Craig Brewer of Hustle & Flow fame, Snoop is still almost a year out from hitting theaters, with a projected release date of August 6, 2027. Black Panther screenwriter Joe Robert Cole handled the original script treatment for the film, which is being produced by Death Row Pictures president Sara Ramaker as well as Snoop Dogg himself. Alongside Daviss, the core cast includes Myles Bullock (Dr. Dre), Camron Jones (Tupac Shakur), Algee Smith (Warren G), Tre Hale (Suge Knight), and Laya DeLeon Hayes (Shante Broadus, Snoop Dogg’s wife of almost three decades).

Universal was also behind the 2015 N.W.A. biopic Straight Outta Compton. In that film, Lakeith Stanfield played Snoop. Snoop will mark the first cinematic release under Death Row Pictures’ overall deal with NBCUniversal Entertainment and Studios.
