Netflix is one of the leading streaming services for thriller series, holding many exciting Netflix Original shows of the most varied subgenres. That said, when the subject turns to supernatural thrillers, viewers can find popular options like Mike Flanagan’s The Haunting of Hill House, Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen, and more. Netflix’s TV show library is also filled with licensed content from the genre that might be appealing to subscribers. Among the excellent supernatural thriller series on Netflix that were not created for the streaming service are shows like Interview with the Vampire, Lucifer, and this show that is trending.
Talamasca: The Secret Order is now one of Netflix’s top shows. The supernatural thriller series was originally released on October 19, 2025, with the final of its six episodes airing on AMC on November 23, 2025. Talamasca: The Secret Order comes from the world of the Anne Rice hit novel series the Vampire Chronicles and Lives of the Mayfair Witches. Talamasca is a secret supernatural organization that keeps tabs on immortal beings walking around on Earth, such as vampires and witches. At the time of writing, Talamasca: The Secret Order is the 2nd most-watched TV show on Netflix in the United States.
Why Talamasca: The Secret Order Is Blowing Up On Streaming
Talamasca: The Secret Order leaves behind popular series like the reality show Love Is Blind: UK, the romance hit My Life with the Walter Boys, David Boreanaz’s action thriller SEAL Team, and many more. Currently, the only TV show on Netflix to rank higher than the supernatural thriller series is Outer Banks, which recently returned for its 5th and final season. Talamasca: The Secret Order‘s streaming success makes a lot of sense, as the show used to be on AMC and AMC+, which comes with a more restricted pool of viewers. Now on Netflix, the series gains a wider reach.
Talamasca: The Secret Order became an instant streaming hit on Netflix, reaching #3 a day after it arrived on the streamer on August 23, before climbing higher.
Talamasca: The Secret Order has all the makings of a Netflix hit. It fits in with other popular genre shows on the streamer, like the 2026 smash hit Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen. Additionally, with only six episodes, the supernatural thriller series is perfect for the popular Netflix binge model. Subscribers can finish it in one sitting if they feel so inclined, which has helped thrillers like Blood Sacrifice and The Chestnut Man: Hide and Seek thrive on the streaming service. In ScreenRant’s Talamasca: The Secret Order review, Sarah Moran gave the show a 7 out of 10.
Talamasca’s Cancellation Doesn’t Mean The End Of Its Story
Sadly, Talamasca: The Secret Order was canceled after one season by AMC. That said, this does not mean the end for the new Netflix supernatural thriller series’ story. Talamasca: The Secret Order is one of the three shows in the live-action Immortal Universe, and both characters from the show and the organization at large are present in Interview with the Vampire and Mayfair Witches.
Additionally, talking to Variety in relation to the cancellation of the show, an AMC spokesperson commented on how the expectation moving forward was that at least some of the characters in the show and the Talamasca organization would appear in future franchise releases. As such, Talamasca: The Secret Order‘s Netflix success only helps the supernatural organization’s chances of returning in other Immortal Universe shows.
