“The first time that I saw [AJ], honestly, I was just angry,” Britney said in an interview with E! News’ Francesca Amiker. “I was just letting out all the emotions that I’ve been holding in throughout dating week and not being able to see her… I was crying, I was yelling.”

But the pair eventually realized that they needed to take the experiment seriously to truly put their love to the test.

“I really was like, ‘We’re not going to gain anything if we continue to try to make this bond outside of our trial marriages,’” AJ told E!. “‘If we are meant to be together, then we will be. If we’re not, then we will grow as people, and we will gain so much more experience and life out of this than you would in a normal experience.’”

Fortunately for them, the challenge proved to be worthwhile, resulting in AJ proposing during the final ultimatum.

“You are truly everything I prayed for and more,” Britney wrote in a post on Instagram celebrating her and AJ’s engagement. “I love you endlessly.”
