Daft Punk’s Thomas Bangalter Shares New Song “L’Accouchement”: Listen

It’s the first piece shared from Mythologies, Bangalter’s 90-minute score for a ballet that premiered in France last year

Thomas Bangalter (formerly of Daft Punk) has shared the first preview of Mythologies, the orchestral work that he wrote for the 2022 ballet of the same name. It’s titled “L’Accouchement,” and it’s one of 23 pieces on Mythologies. Listen to it below.

Bangalter last issued a solo album in 2003 with Outrage. He announced that he was writing the score for the Mythologies ballet in 2021, just a few months after he and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo announced that Daft Punk were done for good. Mythologies arrives in full on April 7.

Angelin Preljocaj, founder of Ballet Preljocaj, choreographed the ballet and commissioned Bangalter’s 90-minute score; the Orchestre National Bordeaux Aquitaine performed and recorded it under the musical direction of Romain Dumas. The ballet premiered last year at the Grand Théâtre de Bordeaux in Bordeaux, France.
