Apple is reportedly planning to launch new color options for the Beats Studio Buds, a new leak suggests. Unlike the AirPods which are only available in white, earbuds from other brands usually come in a few colors. One brand even made its earbuds available in colors that matched skin tones.
However, to say Apple is afraid of playing with colors is far from the truth. While it has been conservative with AirPods, several of its products including the iPhone, iMac, and select models of the iPad can be purchased in a range of bright colors. It also has earbuds that are available in vivid hues, but these are limited to the Beats line.
The Beats Studio Buds were announced in June 2021 with a price tag of $149 and three color variants. Nearly a year after their launch, a report has revealed that Apple is planning new color options for the earbuds. The Front Page Tech YouTube channel says that the Beats Studio Buds will be getting three new colorways soon, bringing the available color variants to six. While there are no images yet, the names of the new variants paint a pretty colorful picture.
Beats Studio Buds To Get New Summer Hues
As revealed by the source, the three new colors of the Beats Studio Buds are Sunset Pink, Ocean Blue, and Moon Gray. They will join the currently available Black, White, and Beats Red variants. Considering the existing colors come with a matching case, the new ones should also get the same treatment. It has become something of a tradition for Apple to release new colors for Beats earphones. In 2020, it announced four additional colors for the Powerbeats Pro wireless earbuds.
Although the Beats Studio Buds are made by Apple, they are designed to work well with Android. Apart from Active Noise Cancellation, a transparency mode, and compatibility with the Beats app, they also have support for Google Fast Pair and Apple’s Find My. Apple users don’t need an app to use them and get additional benefits such as hands-free Siri activation and one-touch pairing. The earbuds have a battery life of up to eight hours (24 hours with the case) and support fast charging (a five-minute charge for one hour of playback). The case doesn’t have wireless charging support but it has a USB-C port.
The source hasn’t revealed when the new Beats Studio Buds colors will be released, but when they do finally launch, they are likely to have the same $149 launch price. Buyers who don’t want to wait for the new colors to drop can pick up the currently available Beats Studio Buds for a discounted price of $119.99 on the official website.
