Bachelorette: Why Michelle Young Will Have Better Luck Than Katie Thurston

Movies

Michelle Young’s season of The Bachelorette has barely begun and already it seems like she’ll have better luck finding a mate than her predecessor. After Katie Thurston and Blake Moynes’ recent breakup, fans are once again discussing the long-term success rate of The Bachelor franchise. However, there are a few indications that Michelle won’t fall into the same traps as some of the previous leads. It’s very likely that Michelle will succeed at finding a life partner, where so many other Bachelorettes (and Bachelors) have failed.

Fans were stunned when it was announced that Bachelor Nation would see two seasons of The Bachelorette in 2021. First up was Katie, whose dramatic season was entertaining but not particularly successful. After Katie’s connection with her initial frontrunner fizzled out, she ended up getting engaged to Blake in the finale. Though at first, Katie and Blake’s relationship seemed to be going great, the couple eventually revealed that they were not compatible and ended their engagement. However, just before Katie and Blake’s breakup announcement, Michelle’s season debuted to excited fans who are now anxious to see how her love story will turn out.

But there are a few reasons why Michelle may be more successful. Katie’s career was listed as Bank Marketing Manager, and it’s fair to say that she’s not as devoted to that position. Michelle is very dedicated to her career as a teacher, and her prioritizing her profession could lead to a lasting relationship. Katie wasn’t as concerned with logistical details as Michelle is, and it’s why Katie and Blake’s breakup wasn’t surprising. There are logistical implications that come with being a teacher, including where to live and schedule requirements. So, Michelle will have to be cognizant of those restrictions when choosing a man to spend her life with in a way Katie wasn’t.

Michelle also seems to be less likely to fall into The Bachelorette trap, where a lead gets wrapped up in the magic of the show. It’s very easy to fall pretty to the Bachelor Nation bubble and believe that love is all you need to make a relationship work. Katie didn’t appear to spend too much time thinking about how her various relationships could work in the real world, but Michelle does seem to take that into account. Bachelorette Michelle judges contestants on how they will fit into her life, and how she can fit into theirs. It’s a more realistic way of dating, and one that’s likely to be more successful.

Though her journey on The Bachelorette is just beginning, Michelle has fans optimistic about her chances for finding a lasting relationship. Katie went through a lot on her season, and though she thought she had found the one, unfortunately things just didn’t work out between her and Blake. However, Michelle seems to be approaching the show and her search for love in a different way than the previous Bachelorette, and it could lead her to finding what Katie didn’t.
