Andy Cohen, Kim Zolciak, Cynthia Bailey & More Bravolebrities React To Gregg Leakes’ Passing

Reality TV

It was heartbreaking to learn of the passing of Real Housewives of Atlanta star Gregg Leakes on September 1, 2021. Gregg fought against colon cancer for five years, with the support of his wife, RHOA alum NeNe Leakes, and his family. He was always a kind and supportive presence on the Bravo show.

Gregg’s family announced the sad news in a statement. “Today the Leakes family is in deep pain with a broken heart. After a long battle with cancer, Gregg Leakes has passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by all of his children, very close loved ones and wife NeNe Leakes,” the statement read. “We ask that you pray for peace and strength over their family & allow them to mourn in private during this very, very difficult time.”

NeNe spoke about Gregg’s health recently to a crowd at her lounge, Linnethia. “My husband is transitioning to the other side,” she shared. NeNe announced the sad news in June of 2021 that Gregg’s cancer had returned and asked for prayers for her husband.

Now, the Bravo world is coming together to mourn Gregg’s loss. (There is some rough grammar ahead.) Bravo producer and Watch What Happens Live host Andy Cohen tweeted, “I am heartbroken over the passing of Gregg Leakes, a wonderful man. I jokingly called him “Pastor Leakes” but in truth he was a strong voice of reason & commanded great respect among the entire #RHOA team,” Andy said. “I am sending love and strength to @neneleakes & the entire Leakes family.”

RHOA star Kandi Burruss posted a photo on Instagram of herself, her husband Todd Tucker, and Gregg and NeNe. “My prayers go out to @neneleakes & her family. @greggleakes was an amazing man who always brought love & great energy to any room he walked into,” Kandi wrote. “I’m thankful for the great memories I have of him. Rest in peace Gregg.” Kandi added a heart and praying hands emoji.

Cynthia Bailey took to Twitter to share her thoughts. She posted a photo of herself with Gregg. She wrote, “Heartbroken. So many good times & so many amazing memories. Gregg was always so loving, funny & kind,” Cynthia stated. “So blessed to have had him in my life. Sending my heartfelt condolences to @NeNeLeakes and her family. Thinking of you and my heart and prayers are with you,” she added.

Cynthia also posted a favorite memory of Gregg on her Instagram. She shared a photo of herself, her husband Mike Hill, NeNe, and Gregg. “This is one of my favorite photos of us. It brings back such fond memories. It was @itsmikehill birthday & we invited a few of our friends over for a last minute gathering at Lake Bailey,” Cynthia commented. “Out of nowhere, Gregg asked to pray for Mike and I. For our love & our relationship. He was first person to actually pray for us as a couple.” RHOA viewers often saw examples of Gregg’s strong faith on the show.

“It was so heartfelt and so beautiful. We were all so touched and blown away by his words. I think Mike & I both teared up,” Cynthia remarked. “There was sincerely a ministry inside of him. He truly blessed us that night & we will never forget it. That was one of the many things that Gregg did to bless my life.” Cynthia added, “I will miss him, and will always honor his memory with love.”

Former Atlanta peach Shamari DeVoe expressed her sympathy on Twitter, along with a photo of Gregg and NeNe looking joyful on their wedding day. “‘Death leaves a heartache, no one can heal. Love leaves a memory, no one can steal.’ Sending prayers, condolences, and tremendous amounts of sympathy to @neneleakes and the Leakes family during this tough time,” she said. “Gregg was a good one and I was honored to have known him.”
