The Boys: How Old Stormfront Is (& When She Got Powers)

Movies

How old Stormfront is in The Boys and when she got her powers. Stormfront shook up the status quo in season 2 of The Boys, ruffling Homelander’s feathers at first, taking charge with the Seven, and inciting crowds with hateful rhetoric under the guise of girl power marketing. Once it was revealed how long she had actually been around, certain aspects of her backstory (and the long-standing ties she had to Vought) began falling into place.

Stormfront’s arrival in The Boys season 2 was premeditated by Vought, the pharmaceutical organization responsible for injecting numerous children with Compound V. The Boys discovered Stormfront didn’t just drop out of the sky all of a sudden and has actually been around since at least the 1970s, when she was known as the supe Liberty before disappearing for a while. However, Stormfront’s story goes a lot farther back. After cozying up to Homelander, Stormfront trusts him enough with her big secret, one she’s been hiding for decades. Before taking on the alias of Stormfront (and a number of others), she was born Klara Risinger in 1919 Berlin, which puts the supe at 101 years old in season 2.

Stormfront married Frederick Vought, the founder of the self-named company, in the late 1930s and she received her superhuman abilities around that time as well — she was in her late teens-20 years old at the most. Stormfront was actually the first to be successfully injected with Compound V, which gave her several powers, including flight, healing and regenerative abilities that prolonged her life and kept her looking youthful. It’s why she only looks like she’s in her 20s despite having lived for an entire century. They were both a part of the Nazi party and Stormfront’s whole plan in the present day was to continue these very same plans of white supremacy and use the Compound V to give their army powers.

Because Stormfront has been around for 100 years, she’s had to go off-grid and lay low. If she remained a public figure like she was in The Boys season 2, people would have caught on to the fact that she was much older than she looked. And if anyone realized her true age, her history with the Nazis and Frederick would have been uncovered much more quickly as well. So Stormfront had to bide her time. What’s interesting about her history is that, despite having powers, she was unable to pass on her superhuman abilities and longevity to her daughter, who grew old and died. Stormfront’s extended lifespan also suggests that she was working behind the scenes for Vought before making her public appearance with a new name and costume.

Stormfront’s racist agenda was likely a part of Vought’s future, especially as their experimentation with Compound V was advancing. They were making attempts to inject adults with the serum instead of babies in a bid to make an army while also negotiating with the government for the Seven’s military inclusion. Stormfront may have been blasted by Homelander’s son at the end of season 2, but she’s still alive and it’s always possible her regenerative abilities will bring her back in The Boys season 3.
