Franchesco De Rosa, the recording name of United Kingdom’s Frank Robinson, names Chicane, Swedish House Mafia and Avicii as influences. You can definitely hear their influences in his work, and “Christmas Festa” is riddled with nuances and charming beat drops. When the beat is dropped, it’s not a burst, but a gliding gravitational pull. It’s smooth. It keeps the listener guessing and the adrenaline flowing. If you’re a fan of Armin van Buuren and just getting your feet wet in the EDM scene, then “Christmas Festa” should be a great start. It eases the listener with the brash sounds, giving the listener momentum to chase the echoes. Without lyrics, it’s a divine way to escape into the night – this song feels like a wintery night with a loved one.

Robinson also releases music under the moniker Mountain Rio. “Christmas Festa”, released on Robinson’s own Mountain Rio Record Label, is exactly as it name suggests – a festival of sounds and joyous textures. There are even moments when you think the bells from Christmas sleighs are chiming in warp speed. Surprisingly, this song doesn’t catapult the listener into outer space. It’s more of a contained rush, and holly one at that. A changing murmur, a muffled electronic combustible running through the middle path is mesmerizing. It’s the balance to the song, and the cohesive crossroads where love and light meet. When you think it’s going to be more jolly and traditional, it glosses over that sonic area and finds a way, like water creeping through rocks, to sound more light, more airy. Then, it changes again.

Truth be told, “Christmas Festa” is not overkill when it comes Christmas or holiday themed. It’s subtle and it’s more of a sprinkling than a full out blizzard of holiday garnishes. It’s definitely a wonderland of hopeful, spirited vibes and heartwarming zings that get the juices flowing. This song definitely gets the listener in the spirit of dancing. You feel alive, you feel invincible listening to “Christmas Festa”. You’re wrapped into a comfy, exciting experience. You feel happy listening to this song and dancing is just part of that experience. I can easily see this song being part of a holiday Spotify playlist, and frankly, it can be a regular work out play list, too. It has such zest, such vigor that the happiness just takes you off your feet. Overall, this EDM track is suitable for all music lovers. I can’t imagine it not taking off during the holiday season. Like hot cocoa, decorating the tree, waiting for Santa and getting in the Christmas spirit, the song “Christmas Festa” makes a very strong case to be an annual tradition.
