NYCC 2020: Every Marvel TV Show Panel | Screen Rant

Movies

2020’s New York Comic Con is full of exciting events, but which of Marvel‘s many TV shows will put on panels for the viewers in (virtual) attendance? The upcoming New York Comic Con will be unrecognizable to fans of the event, as cosplay will be replaced with couch-surfing thanks to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. But luckily the lineup remains impressive, particularly for fans of Marvel’s TV offerings.

The change is in place because the entire event, technically titled New York Comic Con x MCM Comic Con’s Metaverse, will take place online. Organizers are wisely opting to turn the Con into a virtual experience running from October 8-11 to avoid breaching COVID restrictions. But although the panels are now online, this doesn’t mean that the event will be any less full of exciting industry news for comic fans. So which Marvel TV series will have a panel of their own?

The industry giant has an interesting showing this year in terms of small screen and audio panels, headlined by Hulu’s strange M.O.D.O.K show, and with Big Hero 6, Black Panther: Sins of the King, and Helstrom all in attendance. As well as these four original series, the event will also play host to a panel on ’X-Men: Art & Making of the Animated Show’, offering viewers of a certain vintage a nostalgic look back on one of the most celebrated earlier TV comic series of all time.

M.O.D.OK

October 9 at 8:30pm will feature one of NYCC’s most exciting sights for fans, a sneak peek at M.O.D.O.K, aka Mental/Mobile/Mechanized Organism Designed Only For Killing. Starring and co-created by Patton Oswalt, the panel for this stop-motion comedy series brings together sitcom stars like Brooklyn 99‘s Melissa Fumero and Parks and Rec‘s Ben Schwartz to discuss the show, which is a… family sitcom starring the titular supervillain? Okay, so the project sounds like a fever dream. But as the short-lived Legion proved, many of Marvel’s zanier TV choices have often paid off, so a lot of fans will have high hopes for this small-screen comedy.

Big Hero 6

Meanwhile, on October 11th at 4pm the returning stars of Big Hero 6 including Jamie Chung and Scott Adsit will discuss the series’ growth from its blockbuster origins into a small screen smash success as the series enters its third season.

’X-Men: Art & Making of the Animated Show’

On October 8th at 1:45pm the creators of iconic animated X-Men series will be reunited to discuss the show and its artwork, promoting a book filled with previously unseen production insight while discussing the highs and lows of creating the influential early animated superhero show.

Helstrom

Finally, for the TV shows, on October 9 at 9:05 pm another exciting addition to the Marvel TV line-up, the horror series Helstromwill also have a panel. The showrunners and series stars will all be in attendance and, like the aforementioned Legion, they’ve already guaranteed that this Hulu’s horror series won’t be pulling any punches. Adapted from the cult comic of the same name, Helstrom tells the tale of a dysfunctional (to say the least) family including a pair of demon-hunting siblings and their monstrous serial killer father. Only the “demons” aren’t always literal here, as a lot of the story will follow the pair as they hunt down the worst of humanity’s amoral, but very mortal, monsters. Gory, grim, and darker than anything Marvel TV offerings have offered viewers thus far, Helstrom has the potential to become a distinctly adult comic TV classic.

Black Panther: Sins of the King

As a final bonus, for the more traditional comic fans, October 8th at 2:20pm will see the panel for the Black Panther spin-off audiobook series Sins of the King, whose accomplished narrator William Harper Jackson (of The Good Place and Midsommar fame) will be in attendance talking about the immersive e-book and offering a first listen.
