Even the pandemic can’t stop 2020 Emmys nominee “The Masked Singer.” Fox’s singing competition sensation returns for Season 4 on Wednesday, Sept. 23 at 8 p.m.

In this exclusive first look at the new season of the show, where celebs don elaborate costumes to perform musical numbers while a panel of judges guesses their identity, the cast breaks down the difficulties of making “The Masked Singer” in the age of social distancing and everyone — even non-contestants — wearing masks.

“The challenges of shooting Season 4 is, of course, not having a full audience there,” returning panelist Jenny McCarthy says on-screen.

“Obviously there are challenges making sure that we follow the guidelines,” fellow returning panelist and former Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger adds.

Although this season’s competitors have hidden identities that will be revealed as the show airs, past season competitors included T-Pain, Kelly Osbourne, Jesse McCartney, Bret Michaels, Bella Thorne, Sarah Palin, Tony Hawk and more.

Nick Cannon will return as the host, and Scherzinger, McCarthy, Ken Jeong and Robin Thicke will return as the show’s panelists.

“As soon as you show up and see what they’re doing to ensure our safety . . . you walk right on set and forget about [the pandemic] for a while,” says Thicke.

“I’m really proud to be associated with the show that is really reminding people to always wear a mask,” says Jeong.

The show is nominated for an Emmy this year, for “Outstanding Reality – Competition Program.” The Emmys are on ABC on Sunday, Sept. 20 at 8 p.m. “The Masked Singer” returns Wednesday, Sept. 23 on Fox at 8 p.m.
