Grateful Dead’s American Beauty Gets 50th Anniversary Reissue

Music, News

Grateful Dead’s fifth album American Beauty turns 50 this year, and, to celebrate, it’s getting reissued. The 3xCD edition arrives October 30 via Rhino and features newly remastered audio, liner notes by author David Browne, and an unreleased concert recorded on February 18, 1971 at the Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, New York. Below, listen to a performance of “Truckin’” from that night.

The remastered American Beauty will be sold on separate limited picture disc and colored vinyl, also available October 30.

Earlier this year, Grateful Dead’s Workingman’s Dead was reissued for its 50th anniversary. That reissue included a separate unreleased concert recorded at the Capitol Theatre four days following the February 18 show.
