Jenna Ortega Joins Courteney Cox and David Arquette in Next Year’s ‘Scream’ Movie

Horror

The cast for the new Scream movie from Paramount and Spyglass continues to grow, with Deadline reporting that “Jane the Virgin” and “You” actress Jenna Ortega has signed on.

On the horror front, Jenna Ortega was also seen in Insidious: Chapter 2 back in 2013 and she’s part of the cast of Netflix’s upcoming sequel The Babysitter: Killer Queen.

Ortega joins a cast that also includes Melissa Barrera (“Vida,” In the Heights) alongside Courteney Cox as Gale Weathers and David Arquette as Dewey Riley.

Ready or Not and V/H/S filmmakers Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett are resurrecting the franchise for Spyglass Media Group and Paramount Pictures, from a screenplay by James Vanderbilt (Murder Mystery, Zodiac, The Amazing Spider-Man) and Guy Busick (Ready or Not, “Castle Rock”).

Kevin Williamson and the third member of the Radio Silence trio Bettinelli-Olpin and Gillett are part of, Chad Villella, are executive producing with Project X Entertainment’s Vanderbilt, Paul Neinstein and William Sherak serving as producers.

The plan is for Paramount to release the untitled sequel in 2021.
