Pokemon Sword & Shield Isle Of Armor DLC Release Date Is June 17

The time to return to the Galar region is almost upon fans, as the Isle of Armor DLC for Pokémon Sword & Shield will be released on June 17. The Pokémon Company is no longer producing third versions or direct sequels for the mainline Pokémon games and will instead focus on DLC to expand upon existing titles.

It was announced in January that Pokémon Sword & Shield will receive two DLC expansions in the form of the Isle of Armor and The Crown Tundra. These two expansions will bring back over two hundred Pokémon that were cut from the National Dex in the jump to the Galar region. The Isle of Armor and The Crown Tundra also have two Wild Areas that the player can explore, as this was one of the most praised features in Pokémon Sword & Shield.

The Japanese social media accounts for the Pokémon franchise promoted an announcement about the Expansion Pass for Pokémon Sword & Shieldwhich has resulted in a trailer on the Official Pokémon YouTube Channel in Japan. The trailer has confirmed that the Isle of Armor DLC for Pokémon Sword & Shield will be released on June 17. This date has only been confirmed for Japan so far, but it’s likely that the international Pokémon social media accounts are holding off on an official announcement due to the protests happening at the moment.

The trailer has given players their first glimpse of Galarian Slowbro, which is a Poison/Psychic-type Pokémon. It also confirmed several returning Pokémon in the Isle of Armor DLC, such as Kangaskhan and Tauros. A press release has been sent out regarding the Isle of Armor and The Crown Tundra DLC (via Game Press), confirming that two new Regis are coming in The Crown Tundra, in the form of Regieleki and Regidrago, and that the Legendary Birds shown in earlier trailers are indeed Galarian forms of Articuno, Moltres, and Zapdos.

There was a mixed response from some fans to Pokémon Sword & Shield, especially in regard to the number of Pokémon that are present in the game. It feels as if the Expansion Pass is making headway into resolving those issues, with the returning classic Pokémon and the new Wild Areas. Fans have had plenty of time to conquer the Galar region and they’ll soon have a chance to explore more of the Pokémon world’s Great Britain when the Isle of Armor launches later this month.
