Sharon Van Etten has announced a solo livestream performance of her 2009 debut album because i was in love. Van Etten announced the news on Twitter earlier today (May 21). “I wrote my debut album, because i was in love, in a sort of self-imposed quarantine—alone with a guitar in my parents’ basement” Van Etten tweeted. “With the album’s anniversary approaching, I thought it’d be meaningful to play it live the way it was conceived.” The stream will take place at 5 p.m. Eastern on Friday, May 29. Tickets are available here (access to the stream will be provide upon ticket purchase).

A portion of the proceeds from ticket sales from the livestream will benefit NIVA: National Independent Venue Association, as well as Van Etten’s band and crew. Additionally, ticket-holders will be registered to win a signed copy of the original vinyl pressing of because i was in love with each ticket purchase.

Sharon Van Etten was slated to head out on tour last month, but had to postpone the dates indefinitely due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The tour was scheduled in support of her latest album Remind Me Tomorrow.
