Texas Rangers to Host “Concert in Your Car” at Baseball Stadium

Music, News

The Texas Rangers have announced “Concert in Your Car,” a series of drive-in concerts hosted in the parking lot of its baseball stadium in Arlington, Texas. Eli Young Band, Whiskey Myers, Pat Green and the Josh Abbott Band & Kevin Fowler are scheduled to perform on consecutive nights from June 4-7 at Tundra Lot B, adjacent to Globe Life Field.

The bands will perform on a stage in the lot with screens for distant viewing, with audio broadcast from a designated FM radio channel. The Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation will receive a portion of the proceeds to support the team’s COVID-19 relief efforts. The Major League Baseball season’s Opening Day was postponed indefinitely; owners and players have only recently resumed talks to potentially resume games this summer.

Though the largest of its scale in the U.S., “Concert in Your Car” is not the first post-coronavirus FM-radio drive-in concert. The city of Aarhus, Denmark, hosted a 500-capacity concert for the singer Mads Langer, and L.A. nonprofit radio station Dublab hosted a drive-in concert in March, just before the city banned large gatherings.
