As the coronavirus pandemic continues around the world, Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn has resorted to using toilet paper with Michael Rooker’s face on it. In a matter of weeks, the coronavirus outbreak has led to drastic changes in the every day lives of people around the world. Schools have been shut down, citizens are being instructed to stay home as much as they can, and travel restrictions have been imposed in different areas of the world. In what is perhaps the oddest effect of the outbreak, people have been reporting shortages in toilet paper. This is because of a number of people stocking up on (and in some cases, panic-buying) food and toiletries, with toilet paper being the most sought-out commodity.

Gunn has been one of the many celebrities reminding people to stay home amid the outbreak. To help, Gunn has supplied movie recommendations, held online Q&A sessions, and even suggested a better way to greet people during this time. Recently, Gunn wrapped production on his DC film The Suicide Squad and is currently editing it from home. The Suicide Squad could be the first DC film to not be disrupted in any way by the coronavirus, as Wonder Woman 1984‘s release date was just pushed back and The Batman‘s production is currently suspended.

Continuing to make people laugh during this difficult time, Gunn posted on Twitter about his toilet paper woes. According to him, he bought several rolls with Rooker’s face on them as a joke a few years back. Gunn didn’t expect to get any use out of them, but apparently he was wrong. Check out his tweet down below:

Rooker and Gunn have worked together on a number of projects over the years, the most recent being The Suicide Squad. Their most notable collaboration is arguably the Guardians of the Galaxy films, which Gunn wrote and directed with Rooker starring as Yondu Udonta. Gunn will be returning for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, but Rooker isn’t expected to join him as Yondu died in the second film. Rooker will, however, lend his voice to the animated Disney+ series What If…?.

At a time when everyone is so stressed and disheartened, it’s refreshing to find something to laugh at. Whereas some celebrities have responded to the crisis with some questionable decisions, Gunn has provided ample distractions for fans while still reminding people of the seriousness of the situation. Things may be dark, but Gunn’s announcement is sure to elicit some laughter.
