Tyler Cameron was also up for the Bachelor role, but reportedly turned it down. Although Mike did not turn down the role, and in fact showed some prior enthusiasm, he may be a little burnt out on the post-announcement drama. Recently, he stated he hoped to be in a relationship before The Bachelor hot seat has another opening. That suggests it may not be a definite “yes” or “no” after all.
Mike saying he hopes to be in love by the time the next Bachelor opportunity roles around again could mean that, if he isn’t, he might consider taking the job after all. When asked what that season would look like, according to People, Mike literally screamed cheerfully. He described it as looking like when Tom Cruise went on Oprah and jumped up and down on the couch in excitement. After asking Mike what woman he would most likely look forward to, he said a woman who “captivates” and lights up a room, as well as someone who isn’t afraid to speak their mind.
Despite having a very enthusiastically immediate and specific answer to the question of what he’d look forward to as the Bachelor, he still maintains that he’s hoping for love first. He wants to fall in love so he won’t have to be the next Bachelor. However, he’s still hopeful that we’ll find the first black Bachelor within the next two years. Whether that will be him or not remains to be seen. If fans had their way, not to mention the fact that Mike entertained the idea of being the Bachelor, we may have already found him.
When asked what kind of Bachelor he saw Peter Weber being, he said he would be awesome. His reasons are that Peter can dance, he likes to have a good time, and hopes he doesn’t trip because Peter is accident-prone. Before Peter was chosen as the next Bachelor, Mike said that he would “100 percent” accept the role if offered to him. It was apparent from the beginning what the significance of this would be and when Peter was chosen instead, Mike poked a little fun at his friend.
All of these post-Bachelorette discussions probably put Mike on the top of the list as the next main man. Though, even if Mike doesn’t become the next Bachelor after Peter, we’ll still be seeing more of him. Mike confirmed that he is working on a self-love and body positivity book. Whatever he finds himself doing in the next few years, in love or not, his fans will continue to adore him.
