PRESS RELEASE
The eagerly anticipated feature film The Dead Place is finally complete and ready to be unleashed on the world. David Howard Thornton, Art the Clown himself, plays the villain alongside genre veteran Bill Oberst Jr. in this indie horror shocker. The stellar cast features a mixture of seasoned veterans and some of the best young talent in the industry. In the lead role is the fiercely talented newcomer Idris Veliu as “Isaac Stecker”. Also featured are veterans like Beatrice Boepple (Nightmare on Elm Street 5) and Suziey Block (Entrance, Horror in the High Desert) and rising stars like Angel Bradford (Desperate Souls, Debbie Does Demons) and Lexi Graves (Sawyer Massacre) who combine for an intense and unique experience complete with ghosts, demons, drama, violence, and gore with practical FX from Robert Bravo (Craving, A Hard Place).
The film is the 15-year passion project of writer/director Michael Pickle who wrote the script after a deeply frightening experience in a “haunted” asylum in 2008. An experience that haunts him to this day. It’s worth noting that David Howard Thornton will SPEAK and show more of his acting chops in this one. A fact that is sure to whet the appetite of genre fans who are used to seeing him as the mute clown from the Terrifier films. He portrays the demonic and sarcastic dark soul known only as The New Kid who works together with The Entity (Bill Oberst Jr.) to break down Isaac’s defenses and feed off the souls that are drawn to him.
SYNOPSIS: Troubled High School Senior Isaac (Idris Veliu) is plagued by visions of the dead. This causes friction in his family and makes him an outcast at school. His only friend Katharine (Lexi Graves) is obsessed with the paranormal and tries desperately to help him, but a “New Kid” (David Howard Thornton) pushes him to give in to the demon trying to burrow its way inside him (Bill Oberst Jr). Consumed by the evil feeding off the dead souls that haunt him, Katharine is the only one that stands between Isaac and his darker impulses. To satisfy the bloodlust of the demon that dwells within him.
