Reba McEntire knows talent when she sees it.
That’s why the country legend made a shocking, last-minute steal from fellow coach Gwen Stefani during The Voice‘s Oct. 22 episode.
After Team Gwen’s Frankie Torres and Gabrielle Zabosky battled it out during a show-stopping duet of INXS‘s “Never Tear Us Apart,” the No Doubt singer was forced to pick a winner and ultimately sent Frankie packing. But after saying her goodbyes, Reba pressed her steal button and swiped the contestant up for her own team, saving her from elimination.
And as it turned out, that was Reba’s plan all along. “I loved her singing,” the 69-year-old explained to Gwen. “I did a little play there because I did say Gabrielle so you’d go with Gabrielle [and] I could have Frankie.”
“Either way, I was gonna steal because I love your performance, your singing,” Reba added, “everything about it.”
A stunned Gwen simply reacted with a “wow.”
