Daeadlic Entertainment is dipping into the occult with developer DALOAR’s upcoming first-person narrative-driven psychological horror game in The Occultist. Set for a 2025 release on PlayStation 5, Xbox and PC on Steam, The Occultist will be making an appearance at this month’s Gamescom.

The story centers around paranormal investigator Alan Rebels, who travels to the enigmatic island of Godstone, determined to uncover the truth behind his father’s mysterious disappearance. However, Alan does not travel alone. He carries with him his mystical pendulum, an object of unknown origin that accompanied him on all his past paranormal investigations.

Godstone was inhabited until 1950 by an infamous, macabre cult that performed disturbing experiments and cruel rituals. No one has ever set foot on the island since – until today. Using his paranormal talents, Alan must interact with the ominous souls that seem to remain in the foreboding streets and buildings left on GodStone; or avoid them at all cost, should they be wrathful.

Central to the game mechanics in The Occultist is Rebels’ mystic pendulum, which has five unique mechanics to interact with and manipulate the environment. That will be key to solving the various puzzles you’ll encounter, as well as you having to utilize stealth tactics to avoid drawing unwanted attention on your mission.

As such, the game has a heavy emphasis on Survival Horror, where you’ll “experience tense exploration, atmospheric environments, and a gripping, personal narrative.” It’s all wrapped up in an original soundtrack by composer Pepe Herrero (Stoyan, Quién.
