Daft Punk’s Thomas Bangalter Releases New Chiroptera Soundtrack, Additional Six Hours of Music: Listen

Music

Former Daft Punk musician Thomas Bangalter worked with artist JR and choreographer Damien Jallet on the new dance performance Chiroptera, which features 154 dancers and takes place on multiple floors. It debuted in the Paris Opera House’s forecourt last November. Now, over half a year later, Bangalter’s soundtrack for that performance is finally out, and you can listen to it below.

While Bangalter’s Chiroptera soundtrack is roughly the length of an EP, he’s also shared an additional treasure trove of music from that same project: Chiroptera Matiere Premiere. It’s just shy of six hours in length. Check that out, as well as a video documenting the impressive dance performance, below.

Bangalter has stayed busy since Daft Punk broke up three years ago. He released his first solo project since their dissolution, the orchestral work Mythologies, in 2023, which was originally commissioned by choreographer Angelin Preljocaj for the 2021 ballet of the same name. Bangalter also scored Quentin Dupieux’s new comedy movie Daaaaaalí! and contributed to Gaspar Noé’s Climax film soundtrack.
