UK’s Frasers Group enhances board with key appointments

Frasers Group plc (“Frasers” or the “Group”) announces the appointment of new high-calibre Directors to the Board. These appointments bring additional skills and complementary expertise that reaffirm the Group’s confidence in its long-term growth and Elevation Strategy.

Helen Wright, Global CEO, Sergio Rossi will be appointed as Non-Executive Director, and Frasers’ David Al-Mudallal, Chief Operating Officer and Ger Wright, Managing Director, Sports, join the Board as Executive Directors following their significant contribution to Frasers Group in their existing roles. These appointments are effective from 26 February 2024.

The Group also announces the intended appointment of Sir Jon Thompson, former CEO, Financial Reporting Council, as Non-Executive Director. It is expected that Sir Jon will be appointed later in the year, when his current commitments allow.

I am confident that their contribution to the Board will help drive Frasers Group to new heights and future success.”

Frasers Group’s new Board members:

–       Helen Wright joins Frasers Group with over 25 years’ experience as a senior executive in international luxury and lifestyle consumer brands. Helen is widely credited for leading the turnaround and reinvigoration of the British heritage brand Belstaff during her time as CEO. She set the company’s strategic vision and investment agenda, and drove its digital transformation. Helen’s other leadership roles have included VP of Sales and Merchandising, Europe, at Ralph Lauren, President EMEI for Fendi/LVMH, and CEO at Anya Hindmarch. In November 2023 she was appointed Group CEO at Sergio Rossi, the renowned Italian luxury footwear house, based in Milan, Italy.

–       Ger Wright has been Managing Director, Sports, Frasers Group since 2022, having joined with 20 years’ executive experience across commercial, product and merchandising functions. Ger is responsible for leading Sport within the Group, working closely with the team in tandem with brand partners to deliver the next phase of the business’s omni-channel transformation and expansion. Previously, Ger worked with the world’s leading denim brand, Levi’s, and most recently spent 15 years at Nike where she was responsible for building markets, businesses, and teams across Europe, Middle East and Africa.

–       David Al-Mudallal was appointed Chief Operating Officer, Frasers Group in August 2021. He has been a key driver of the Group’s transformative Elevation Strategy, playing a pivotal role in acquiring and retaining talent and delivering operational excellence across the Group. David is responsible for integrating newly acquired businesses onto the Frasers platform, which is a key driver in unlocking profitable growth from our M&A strategy. He also led on the creation of the Financial Services Division and the successful development and rollout of Frasers Plus, the Group’s loyalty and credit facility. Since joining the Group in 2017, David has held a range of senior roles including Chief of Staff and Head of Operations.

–       Sir Jon Thompson, former Chief Executive, Financial Reporting Council, will bring a wealth of experience in governance, reporting and audit, having led the major transformation of the FRC following multiple independent audits. Sir Jon’s previous roles include Chair of HS2, CEO of HMRC, and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence, where he oversaw major projects and drove significant change programmes. –He has also had an impressive career in finance, having held positions such as Director General of Finance at the Ministry of Defence, Director General of Corporate Services at the Department for Education, and Finance Director of Ofsted. Before joining the Civil Service in 2004, Sir Jon held several corporate services and finance roles in the public and private sectors. It is intended that Sir Jon will be appointed later in the year, when his current commitments allow.
