New Demo for ‘Cannibal Tales’ During Steam Storyteller’s Festival; Work on Future Episodes to Start This Year

Fantastico Studio dropped some news regarding the updated demo for their visual novel, Cannibal Tales, stating that the demo will be available next Monday, kicking off Steam’s Storyteller’s Festival event. The event will take place from January 29th to February 4th, during which time players will have the chance to try an updated version of the demo.

The developer also did a bit of updating on the development front for Cannibal Tales, which according to its Steam page, is aiming for a March 2024 release of its first episode. Hoping to give the game a more accessible release, the team is currently in the midst of looking for a translator for translating the game’s text from English to Japanese.

In addition, Fantastico Studio is looking for a partner to finance the development of the game’s remaining two episodes. “Our goal is to complete them by the end of 2024, so we can conclude our saga by 2025.”

And despite their best efforts to get the game a more accessible rating, Fantastico Studio stated that they weren’t able to convince Steam to change the game’s classification. As a result, to find and play Cannibal Tales, you will need to have the “Adult Only Sexual Content” option activated on Steam. Given what we saw in director Ruggero Deodato‘s Cannibal Holocaust, this shouldn’t come as a surprise.

From a script penned by Deodato, Cannibal Tales will be divided into three chapters. The first entry, “The Interview”, sees a journalist named Helena determined to get a scoop that will allow her to become a partner at the newspaper. To do so, Helena decides to pursue a mystery surrounding Noah, a young survivor of metropolitan cannibal known as Price.

Aiming to unravel the connection between the two of them, and understand why Noah was spared, Helena presses for an interview. During the interview, the player’s morality will be put to the test as the line between good and evil grows increasingly blurred.
