The final film in the Jurassic World trilogy, Jurassic World Dominion opens in theaters here in the United States on June 10, but first it’s opening in 15 big international markets this weekend. Deadline reports this morning that the film is already off to a great start in one of those markets, with Jurassic World Dominion pulling in $6 million over in Korea already.

“This is the fourth biggest opening day of all time in the market,” Deadline notes, only behind massive hits including Avengers: Endgame and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.

Deadline’s report continues, “In total this weekend, Dominion will bow in 15 international box office markets. Along with Korea, majors include Mexico, Brazil and Italy. The Chris Pratt/Bryce Dallas Howard-starrer is eyeing a $45M+ start from the early play.”

How does that compare to the previous two Jurassic World movies? Jurassic World made $47.3 million in the same markets back in 2015, with Fallen Kingdom stomping its way to $59.8 million in those markets back in 2018. Both films went on to make well over $1 billion globally, and we expect Jurassic World Dominion will follow suit when all is said and done.

In addition to the US, Dominion will also be opening in China next weekend.

Stay tuned for more box office numbers as we hear them.

This summer, experience the epic conclusion to the Jurassic era as two generations unite for the first time. Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard are joined by Oscar®-winner Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum and Sam Neill in Jurassic World Dominion, a bold, timely and breathtaking new adventure that spans the globe.

From Jurassic World architect and director Colin TrevorrowDominion takes place four years after Isla Nublar has been destroyed. Dinosaurs now live—and hunt—alongside humans all over the world. This fragile balance will reshape the future and determine, once and for all, whether human beings are to remain the apex predators on a planet they now share with history’s most fearsome creatures.

Jurassic World Dominion, from Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment, propels the more than $5 billion franchise into daring, uncharted territory, featuring never-seen dinosaurs, breakneck action and astonishing new visual effects. The film features new cast members DeWanda Wise (She’s Gotta Have It), Emmy nominee Mamoudou Athie (Archive 81), Dichen Lachman (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.), Scott Haze (Minari) and Campbell Scott (The Amazing Spider-Man 2).

The film’s returning cast includes BD Wong as Dr. Henry Wu, Justice Smith as Franklin Webb, Daniella Pineda as Dr. Zia Rodriguez and Omar Sy as Barry Sembenè.
