Tom Holland Reveals Hilarious Prank He Pulled On No Way Home Producer

Movies

Tom Holland reveals a hilarious prank he pulled on a Spider-Man: No Way Home producer. Coming up on December 17, the actor will fill out the Spider-Man suit for his third solo movie alongside Zendaya’s MJ and Jacob Batalon’s Ned. It’s his sixth overall appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since being recruited by Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) to fight in 2016’s Captain: America: Civil War, later joining the fight against Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame. No Way Home also stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Jon Favreau, Marisa Tomei, and J.K. Simmons.

No Way Home picks up immediately after Far From Home‘s mid-credits scene as J. Jonah Jameson reveals Spider-Man’s secret identity to the world with the help of Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal), who also frames him for his murder. In turn, Peter seeks the help of Doctor Strange and urges him to restore his secret identity through magic, though he ends up only making matters worse. The spell inadvertently cracks open the multiverse, allowing Doc Ock (Alfred Molina), Green Goblin (Willem Dafoe), and Electro (Jamie Foxx) to enter the MCU. Other past Spider-Man villains like Sandman (Thomas Haden Church) and Lizard (Rhys Ifans) also make appearances too.

During a recent appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers, Holland shared a hilarious prank that he pulled on Spider-Man: No Way Home producer Mitch Bell, tricking him into thinking a bottle of lube was actually hand sanitizer. Later that same day, Holland pulled the exact same prank on a boom mic operator. Read Holland’s account below:

I remember in the Spider-Man suit, because the thing is so tight, the zip sometimes gets stuck, and it’s a nightmare. I’ll have like half of it off, and I’m like, “Please, just get this thing off me.” And we have a bottle of lube that we squirt on the zip to get it open. We were on set and Mitch Bell was there, one of our big Marvel producers. He’s in charge of the money, so a COVID shutdown for him is a very serious thing and he’s taking it very seriously. And this bottle of lube does suspiciously look like a bottle of hand sanitizer. So he walks over and he’s chatting to me and he’s like, “Hey, man can I get some of that hand sanitizer?” And I look at my brother Harry and I’m like, “This is about to be golden.” So I’m squeezing all this stuff on him, squeezing it, and he walks off and you can see him on set like, “This goddamn hand sanitizer won’t go.”

Tom Holland in Spider-Man No Way Home

While the cast of No Way Home had to adhere to strict COVID-19 protocols while on set, that doesn’t mean there wasn’t plenty of time for hijinks, as Holland’s story demonstrates. The Spider-Man actor recently shared another amusing anecdote that happened on the set of No Way Home involving Alfred Molina. The Doc Ock actor reprises the role that he originated more than 15 years ago and had a blast on set with the all advanced technology used to create his mechanical arms on screen.

The No Way Home press tour has been one of the most memorable for any Marvel movie in recent years, not only because of Holland, Zendaya, and Batalon making the rounds as a trio, but because of the barrage of questions regarding Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield‘s involvement in the movie. Holland, who is famously loose-lipped when it comes to Marvel secrets, has done an admirable job so far. The wait for Spider-Man: No Way Home is almost over as it debuts in theaters on December 17.
