Carrie Ann Inaba breaks down her ‘Grease Night’ glam for ‘DWTS’

Reality TV

Carrie Ann Inaba is exclusively giving Page Six Style a look inside her “Grease Night” glam for “Dancing With the Stars.”

During Monday’s show – which paid tribute to the classic 1978 film “Grease” – the judge looked pretty in pink in an ensemble inspired by the Pink Ladies.

“It was so special celebrating one of my favorite films of all time. ‘Grease’ came out [when] I was 10 years old,” Inaba, 53, recalled.

“I remember wanting to fall in love like Sandy Olsson, with a guy like Danny Zuko. It was so fantastic seeing all our stars celebrating the film and the musical in their own ways In the ballroom.”

While the celebrities and their pro partners were all dressed in costumes inspired by characters from the film, Inaba opted for “classic elegance” this week.

“We wanted to bring to life what it may have been like on the red carpet of the ‘Grease’ premiere, with super glammed-up hair and a pink dress to honor the Pink Ladies,” she explained. “Pink is also special as October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a cause very near and dear to my heart ,and I wanted to honor all the warriors in pink this month.”

She added, “Pink also happens to be my favorite color and when I wear pink it makes me happy. Since ‘Grease Night’ was such a happy night in the ballroom, it was the perfect occasion to wear a pink dress.”

STYLING: Rhonda Spies, @rhondaspiesstylist

“Carrie Ann was stunning in a bright pink Brooklyn and Bowery gown with rosettes on the shoulder that was perfectly complemented with Dena Kemp jewels. The hair and makeup really accentuated the glamour of the overall look.”

MAKEUP: Marylin Lee Spiegel, @marylinmakeup

“This week’s look for Carrie Ann evokes classic Hollywood glamour. When I want to add pink to Carrie Ann’s eyes, I love using the Lime Crime Venus XL palette. I gave her cheeks a beautiful pink glow using Thrive Cosmopower Multi-Dimensional Strobing Blush in both Angelina and Rosie, and highlighted with Pixi Glow-y Powder in Rose Dew.

Though her makeup was in cool tones to go with her fuchsia gown, I gave her lips a strong pop with Smith & Cult lipstick in Supreme Red.”

HAIR: Glenn Nutley, @glennnutley

“For Monday night’s show, Carrie Ann went for a look that was side-swept curls! For the base, I used Oribe Maximista Thickening Spray on dry hair and blow dried volume into the roots.

Then I backcombed the roots and sprayed them with Oribe Thick Dry Finishing Spray before curling all the hair with a two-inch iron and pinning with pin-curl clips to set under a hair net, softly brushed out the hair with my fingers and swept it to the side.

Lastly, I completed the look by setting with Oribe Superfine Strong Hairspray.”

While fans raved over the “Grease Night” looks online, they weren’t as happy with the results of Monday night’s show.

Melanie C and Gleb Savchenko were eliminated from the competition after landing in the bottom two with Olivia Jade Giannulli and Val Chmerkovskiy.

“Tonight’s elimination was shocking. Having Melanie C and Gleb, as well as Oliva Jade and Val, in the bottom two was almost unfathomable,” Inaba exclusively told us.

“It was really heartbreaking to have to choose one of the couples to go home. Both were worthy of staying – and the judges’ scoring reflected that – but ‘Dancing With the Stars’ has always been a combination of the audience vote and the judges’ scores, and that’s the way it’s always worked.”

She continued, “While I am tremendously sad that Melanie had to leave, I think she should be very proud of what she has accomplished, and sharing herself so honestly and openly. I think she should be proud of her journey and I wish her well.”

“Dancing With the Stars” airs Mondays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
