90 Day Fiance Couple Ariela Weinberg And Biniyam Shibre Dish On Wedding Planning Issues

Reality TV

It’s time to catch up with past couples from 90 Day Fiance: The Other Way, because Season Three premieres on August 29th, and TLC has decided to recycle some cast members.  While Jenny Slatten and Sumit Singh present us with more emotional stress and manipulation from his parents, TLC is bringing back a happier duo to entertain us viewers with their sweet family life.

Ariela Weinberg braved childbirth and life in a foreign country to be with her baby daddy, Biniyam Shibre.  The New Jersey native moved to Ethiopia while pregnant with the couples’ first child and Season Two of 90 Day Fiance: The Other Way documented the struggles that the couple faced.  Ariella really did endure a lot of stress when faced with subpar living conditions and an emergency C-section.  After delivering their son, Avi, Ariella struggled with the influence that Biniyam’s family had on her postpartum journey.  Ethiopian culture also didn’t appeal much to the freelance writer and the family of three moved back to the United States.  Now, the two are struggling to decide on another big milestone, getting married.

With the approaching premiere of Season Three, Ariela and Biniyam have to tease a story line.  When Us Weekly asked if the couple had even chosen a date for the wedding, Ariela teased, “it remains to be seen.  I’ll leave that one on a cliffhanger.”

Another issue?  Deciding on a budget and scale of the wedding.  Ariela called Biniyam a “party person” that, “likes a big wedding, a  big party, and he likes to go all out.”  But Biniyam’s response that the size of the wedding is more of a cultural issue.  He said, “it’s not about partying.  In my culture, if you have to do a wedding, you have to do a big wedding.  Like, your mother’s side, your father’s side.  That’s how I grew up.”

Considering how Ariela reacted to Biniyam’s family while in Ethiopia, it seems she still has little understanding about how a family-centric culture works.  And her wording sounds like she is dragging her heels to return to Africa for the wedding.  “I think it’d be hard to get the whole family shipped out to Ethiopia,” she explained.

But Biniyam insists on an Ethiopian wedding.  “I want to show her an Ethiopian wedding, what it looks like,” he said, “My father’s side is very funny. My mother says it’s a different culture [with] a wedding ceremony. I want to show her — for Avi, for Avi’s family.”

“I think maybe we’ve got to talk about this one, because that sounds like a lot,” Ariela responded in a seemingly similar manner to how she always felt about Biniyam’s family being around.  We’ve heard Ariela say “it’s a lot” often in Season Two, including when Biniyam invited some female family members to push her towards circumcising Avi.  And he had to compromise a lot to tame Ariela’s anxiety.  Methinks this Ethiopian wedding will either massively scaled down, or conducted in the United States.

Wherever the wedding is to take place, it will make Ariela, Biniyam, their son Avi officially a family.  Viewers of 90 Day Fiance: The Other Way will get to see how much he has grown since his birth last season.  When Ariela gave Us Weekly an update on Avi last year, she described him as, “the happiest kid I have ever met.”  She added that, “[2020] has been the craziest year of my life and it is out there for all the world to see.  Honestly, our story is just going to get even crazier.  Since Avi was born there have been no dull moments.  You will see how we navigate being parents, and how our relationship grows over time.”

Catch up on 90 Day Fiance: The Other Way premieres August 29th at 8 p.m. on TLC.
