Ruby Barker Will Face Off Against the Mysterious ‘Baghead’

In another example of a short film getting a feature treatment, Alberto Corredor is directing a full-length take on his indie short Baghead, which locks up a witch in the basement.

“Bridgerton” star Ruby Barker (pictured below) joins Freya Allan, a breakout in the Netflix series “The Witcher”, in Baghead for Studiocanal and The Picture Show with production set to begin this fall in Berlin, reports Deadline.

Baghead revolves around a mysterious figure called Baghead, a diminutive wrinkled-up person who is able to manifest the dead and bring them back to our world for short intervals. People seek out the mysterious medium to reconnect with lost loved ones. Once in contact with Baghead, however, the title character’s true powers and intentions are revealed and there is a high price to pay for its contact with the deceased.”

Barker will play a key role in the film – a young woman who must face off with the treacherous Baghead and put a stop to its maniacal evil at all costs, adds the site.

The Picture Company partners Alex Heineman & Andrew Rona, who were also behind the short film-turned-feature Come Play, will produce alongside horror veteran Roy Lee (It, The Ring, The Grudge, The Turning, Godzilla), who executive produces.

“The feature transfer will build on that storyline and take a SAW-like approach, adding in supernatural elements,” adds the site who says Allan will play the film’s lead, who must contend with the evil entity which has deep connections to her family’s past.

Christina Pamies and Bryce McGuire wrote the script.
