Marvel Fan Spots A Rescue Armor Problem In Endgame’s Final Battle

Movies

A Marvel fan has discovered a potential problem with Pepper Potts’ Rescue armor in Avengers: Endgame‘s final battle. Created by Tony Stark as an anniversary present for his wife, the purple armor was teased early on in the movie when Morgan Stark was innocently playing with it. This foreshadowed Pepper eventually donning it as she joined the Avengers’ fight against Thanos.

Pepper actor Gwyneth Paltrow teased her character donning a CGI suit with an image she shared while filming Avengers: Endgame. Despite this and the confirmation that the Rescue suit existed, there was still excitement and surprise when she flew into the Avengers HQ and joined the rest of the Marvel Cinematic Universe heroes as they battled it out with Thanos and his minions. Despite the many moving parts of the third-act action set piece, most characters were given a moment or two to shine. One of Pepper’s most iconic shots in the fight sequence came when she teamed up with Iron Man. However, upon closer inspection, there may be an issue with this part of the Avengers: Endgame battle.

As pointed out by a Reddit user with the handle u/Embarrassed_Air8519, this particular bit in the Endgame final battle sees Rescue firing her blasters, but she doesn’t appear to be targeting anyone. She doesn’t hit anything and yet she continues to power it up. It’s a brief moment in an otherwise packed sequence, and it’s understandably easy to miss. Check out the video below:

To be fair to Pepper, before this scene, she shot down a couple of Thanos’ ships which was already impressive considering she supposedly never used the suit before this battle, as previously revealed by Tony. This could be a missed frame during post-production VFX work, though it’s hard to know for sure. Considering the many things happening all at once in this Avengers: Endgame fight, not to mention how brief the shot is, it’s something Marvel Studios was able to get away with when the film was first released in theaters back in 2019. However, as audiences continue to revisit the movie, especially in the long wait for a new MCU film, smaller details like this will more likely be discovered.

There’s word yet if Pepper Potts or the Rescue suit will be seen again in the franchise now that Iron Man is gone. Considering what’s known thus far about the post-Avengers: Endgame MCU, it doesn’t seem like Pepper is going to be a full-time superhero like her husband was. That said, the fact the Rescue armor exists gives Marvel Studios the opportunity to bring it back if any of the upcoming films require it.
