Phigames has announced during Gamespot’s Play for All 2021 showcase that their sci-fi Metroidvania Recompile will hit Steam, the PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X this August in a new “release window” trailer. The game’s director, Phi Dinh, also took the opportunity to announce that they’ve teamed up with English rockers 65daysofstatic to contribute a track to the game’s soundtrack.

The dark 3D platformer casts you as a rogue piece of code that has becomes trapped in a Mainframe in the grips of a malicious AI known as the Hypervisor. Luckily for you, you’ve got several different abilities to help even the odds against the enemy AI.

In classic Metroidvania style, you’ll have tons of non-linear gameplay as you explore the Mainframe. Recompile will also have multiple endings, depending on your actions throughout the game.

Recompile can currently be wishlisted on Steam.
