Monique Samuels Says Bravo Wouldn’t Let Her Do Press After She Left Real Housewives Of Potomac; Says “They Were Treating Me Less Than A Human”

Reality TV

Monique Samuel’s withdrawal from the Real Housewives of Potomac was marred by ill feelings and unresolved issues between Monique and the rest of the cast.  Real Housewives come and go, but this departure was the dramatic conclusion of Monique pinning Candiace Dillard face down into a table by her hair.  Some viewers expected Monique to be fired mid-season.  Gizelle Bryant, Robyn Dixon, and Wendy Osefo made it clear that they wanted nothing to do with her, but Monique remained for the rest of the season even though her screen time was cut dramatically.

Maybe she wanted to participate in the reunion to share her side of the story.  But after feeling slighted by her treatment there, Monique decided to quit.  Perhaps, again, in an attempt to be able to speak freely.  Unfortunately, Bravo is still allegedly controlling the narrative  According to Monique, she was blacklisted by the network and that influence prevented her from doing any press since leaving RHOP.

Monique expressed frustration still at being allegedly silenced.  According to an article by The Jasmine Brand, she couldn’t even book interviews.

“You would think after being quiet for almost a year, I would be allowed now that we can talk about it, to talk about it,” Monique said, “I was not even getting press opportunities. They tried to ban me from doing press. It was just craziness. I was like, the disrespect! I just felt like they were treating me less than a human.”

Monique elaborated further.  She explained, “I would have to fight so hard behind the scenes all the time just to use my platform. I was getting turned down for interviews and being told by some people requesting me for press, ‘I was told you weren’t available or they told me I couldn’t interview you.’”

RHOP Season 6 will premiere on July 11th and Monique is happy to be free of the hassle.  She said, “I don’t [miss it]. Even when they started filming, the thought of trying to prepare my life for cameras and everything else in my life that I have going on with my businesses that I’ve been working hard on, I can’t even imagine the whole tug of war.”

Monique has made it clear that she will never return to the show, and certainly this foul play would discourage her further.  The scales seem to favor Gizelle, Candiace, and Robyn.  Monique says the other ladies never apologized for damage done towards her.  Referring to a rumor spread about her youngest son being fathered by another man, Monique draws a parallel between apologizing for a vicious rumor and being held accountable for a physical assault.

“I will never be back on that show because too much has happened and to me, if people were really genuine and they really feel any type of remorse as they try to hold me accountable at a time that I wasn’t ready,” Monique said, “some of these ladies have done some really nasty, disgusting things and I’ve not had one apology in my direction. My husband has not been apologized to.”

It’s reality TV, and editing could go either way for a cast member.  Monique said she and her husband Chris Samuels were made to be the pariahs in the group.  She explained, “We don’t feel we were treated unfairly — We were treated unfairly. Without a shadow of a doubt, we were. If you could’ve heard some of the questions that weren’t shown, it was like guns a blazin’ in my direction.”
