Most people blame reality TV for ruining their lives. However, Braunwyn Windham-Burke actually credits Real Housewives of Orange County and the show’s production company, Evolution Media, for helping her get sober.

She even revealed that a member of the production team was the person by her side when she went to her first Alcoholics Anonymous meeting.

During a recent appearance on the Give Them Lala… With Randall podcast, Braunwyn revealed “My first AA meeting, I had someone from the crew, I mean they didn’t film it, but they walked in with me and basically held my hand and took me to that first meeting.”

In response, Randall Emmett said, “Oh wow” and Lala Kent replied, “Damn.” For the record, Vanderpump Rules and Real Housewives of Orange County are produced by the same production company, Evolution Media.

Braunwyn said, “That is something that I really want to share. Someone from Evolution held my hand and took me to my first meeting. They sat in that chair for a whole hour because I was so broken and embarrassed. I couldn’t get through that door on my own.”

She continued, “Getting to my first meeting was hard and I had Evolution behind me. I still just tear up. As crazy as it sounds, I don’t know if I would be sober if it wasn’t for the show.”

Braunwyn recalled, “I was accountable. I tried to get sober before and I would make it like five days.”

She admitted, “I knew I had a problem for a long time, but I couldn’t do it. Knowing I was doing it on camera and I was going to be accountable made such a difference.”
