Malia White of Below Deck Mediterranean confirmed her split from Tom Checketts. Fans of the show have watched the two’s rocky relationship on screen. But they appeared to still be together over the summer, after filming ended. However, Malia called it quits after she recently insinuated Tom cheated on her.
Tom was not supposed to appear on Below Deck Med. But, while visiting Malia in Spain, he was hired as a fill-in chef following Hindrigo “Kiko” Lorran’s departure from The Wellington. At the time, Malia expressed her skepticism of working so closely with her boyfriend. However, the couple appeared to make it through filming and seemed stronger than ever by the time filming wrapped. In fact, the couple recently reunited in London following months of a long-distance relationship. They shared pictures of their time together on Instagram and seemed quite happy.

It appears things soon turned sour for this pair. Malia’s recent Instagram activity has been hinting at trouble in paradise. On Tuesday, she took to Instagram and released a “PSA” revealing her new single status. “My personal life seems to be quite the topic at the moment,” the Bravo star said in the video. “I am not on Twitter. I don’t do a lot of Instagram Lives, so I thought I would send out a message in my own words.” She went on to confirm that she and Tom have parted ways. “Yes, Tom and I have split,” she told fans. “The details surrounding all of it I am trying to keep a little private just out of respect to him and I. But yes, I am single.”
It’s possible that cheating led to the breakup. Malia recently posted a meme to her story that read, “The first time he cheats versus when you had enough.” Just a few days before that, the bosun gave a shout out to her single followers while holding a glass of white wine. “Cheers to all the ladies out there in their 30’s, single, focused on their careers & that give zero f*cks,” she captioned the post. The breakup news doesn’t come as too much of a shocker to fans, especially those that are currently watching Tom’s explosive behavior on the show.
Malia’s romantic life has been quite the topic of conversation. Recently, Captain Sandy Yawn implied Malia was a lesbian. The bosun took some time to address the salacious claims in her breakup statement. “I’m not sure why my sexual orientation is being discussed in Cameos,” the dive instructor declared. “First off, if I was gay, I would just like to say, it should be my decision when and if to out it to the entire internet. But, no I’m not, but if I was I would openly proud to be gay. I’m a huge supporter of the community. I’ll just leave it at that.”
