Garcelle Beauvais Shares Advice NeNe Leakes and Cynthia Bailey Gave Her When She Joined Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills

Garcelle Beauvais

We are only one episode into Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and I’m already loving Garcelle Beauvais. Anyone who shows up and shows out in leopard print for their first big housewives scene is fabulous. While we didn’t get as much Garcelle as I would have liked, I feel like she has come to save this franchise from becoming stale. Ever since Lisa Vanderpump’s exit last season, I think us fans were wondering what these ladies could possibly bring to the table. They spent so many years trying to get LVP off, what could possibly be next? And don’t tell me it’s a Teddi Mellencamp pregnancy story line.

But between Garcelle and  Sutton Stracke, we might just have ourselves a season. Side note, even as a friend of, looks like Sutton is making quite the splash. I know everyone is going to be focused on the whole Brandi Glanville and Denise Richards hook up. But we need other housewives to add some much needed input outside of that. RHOBH has long relied on the same cast of characters to drive plot lines, leaving the rest in the dust. For example, Teddi. Even when she was involved in puppygate, she had a bit part and was overshadowed by Kyle Richards and Lisa Rinna. But I suppose it takes quite the personality to not get lost in the shuffle. It also takes some very thick skin, which Garcelle seems to have. Even with thick skin, it doesn’t mean she couldn’t use a little sage advice for her debut.

When Garcelle found out she had been cast for RHOBH, she reached out to NeNe Leakes and Cynthia Bailey to help her prepare. She tells Entertainment Tonight that the Real Housewives of Atlanta veterans stepped up to the plate to offer some insight on being a housewife. Garcelle recalls, “When it was announced, I texted Cynthia and she was like, ‘Girl, I’m so excited for you! You’re gonna be great. And then I texted NeNe and she was like, ‘Giiiiiiirl. They’re all gonna lie, they’re gonna cheat, they’re gonna stab you in the back.’” Garcelle says she was careful to take NeNe’s advice with a grain of salt. Still, she believes that her advice was useful.

NeNe also wasn’t exactly wrong. Garcelle notes, “The thing that was shocking to me was that me and the women could be laughing and having a good time and then the next [day], they’re throwing you under the bus. So, that took a lot of getting used to, you know? Like, hey, you were just leaning on me cracking up and then they’re like, ‘Oh, remember you said that about Lisa Rinna?’ And I’m like, oh…. oh, wow. OK. I did say that.”

Despite the drama, Garcelle looks like she’s going to settle in nicely and I’m excited to see what else she brings to the table.
