Searing its melody into our minds one plodding note at a time, the piano keys that adorn the backdrop behind Kellie-Anne’s evocative lead vocal in “Legacy,” her latest single and music video, bring as much passion to the table as our star’s singing does, and if you’re at all familiar with her discography, you’ll understand just how bold a statement this is to make. Kellie-Anne has been establishing quite the reputation around her powerhouse vocal work in the last two years, but in “Legacy,” she proves that she’s far more than just a contemporary pop singer – contrarily, she’s a multilayered songwriter with a mission to make a big impact on music in general.

Lyrically speaking, I think “Legacy” is the most vulnerable look we’ve ever seen from this artist. Her serenade reflects the weighty emotional connection drawn together between the verses in the song, and while the music video for the track is spellbindingly provocative, it never steals any of the thunder away from the real focal point here – its glowing soundtrack. Kellie-Anne is only a couple of years into what will likely become a long and successful career, but she’s already showing a keen knack for producing an aesthetical balance in songs like this one that many of her peers would spend twice as long trying to master.

As powerful as the music video for “Legacy” is, Kellie Anne’s new single is inarguably just as potent a work on its own as it is when married with stunningly heartwarming imagery, and that’s just not something that can be said for a lot of pop’s biggest videos this year. This singer/songwriter is well on her way to breaking through on the mainstream side of the dial, and if there were any critics who didn’t think so before now, I think they’ll be changing their tune after getting a glimpse at this latest cut.
