R. Kelly is facing more criminal charges. In a superseding indictment against Kelly—filed today (March 13) in a Brooklyn federal court and viewed by Pitchfork—Kelly is accused of transporting a minor (identified as “Jane Doe #5”) across state lines “with intent [to] engage in sexual activity.” In addition, Kelly is accused of coercing the minor into sexual activity and transmitting herpes to her. Kelly’s actions allegedly occurred in 2015.

R. Kelly is facing federal charges in Chicago, in addition to the federal charges in Brooklyn and state charges in Illinois and Minnesota. He has pleaded not guilty to all of the counts against him.

When reached by Pitchfork, R. Kelly’s attorney Douglas C. Anton said, “It seems that the government has sought to add additional allegations as to alleged conduct, with what they believe to be more specificity.”
