G Herbo Pleads Guilty to Misdemeanor Battery

In April 2019, rapper G Herbo was arrested in Atlanta for simple battery following an alleged altercation with the mother of his child. Now, G Herbo, whose real name is Herbert Wright III, has pleaded guilty to one count of misdemeanor battery, Pitchfork can confirm. The rapper was sentenced to 12 months probation. He will additionally be required to complete community service and take a family violence prevention course.

According to police records, viewed by Pitchfork, G Herbo entered a negotiated plea to one count of battery under the family violence category earlier today (January 6). When reached for comment by Pitchfork, G Herbo’s attorney Tanya Miller offered the following statement:

Herbert entered a plea to one count of misdemeanor battery and was sentenced to 12 months’ probation, community service and a family violence prevention course. Herbert is eager put this incident behind him and to move on with his life and his work—both in the studio and in the community. It is Herbert’s sincere desire to maintain harmony going forward while continuing to take care of his responsibilities to his family and to everyone else who depends on him. He is a talented young man with a bright future ahead of him. We are rooting for his success.

When G Herbo was initially arrested in April, the Atlanta Police Department stated that officers acted in response to a dispute call and spoke with a woman who said “she was in a verbal altercation with the father of her child when at some point he assaulted her then left the location with their son.” The woman also “sustain[ed] minor scratches as a result of the incident.” G Herbo was later released from jail on a $2,000 surety bond.
